More pics from our trip to Albania in January 2008!

This is the Vjosa river on our way to Permet! Beautiful river!!

Another pic of the river!

Mama making Byrek with Leeks! MY FAVE! I watched closely so that I could make it myself! Of course I have not attempted to make it yet, but I just might get a wild hair soon!

This is the view from a small little cafe where we had coffee in the morning in Tirana. Such a beautiful site! My husbands home is just beyond the lake in Sauk!

And of course, the best place to eat Pizza baked in an oven the old way with wood! I love this little place. Even though we were there in January, we still ate dinner on the balcony! It was a wonderful dinner. Juvenilja Castle in Tirana

NEWBIE

Here are some pics we took while in Albania this year celebrating the New Year. This was the first year I had been there in the winter. The last time I went was in August, when I got married to my wonderful husband. Completely different in the winter than in the summer. Still a beautiful country though!

This is what I consider my second home. When the kids are grown and gone, which will be a while since my youngest is 5, we plan on returning to Albania to retire and enjoy the rest of our lives.

I hope to meet new friends here in BLOGGERVILLE!

Enjoy the pics!

This is the city of Tirana, Albania, just waking in the morning looking from Dajti mountain. Far in the distance you can see the Adriatic Sea.

This is looking up at Dajti mountain. It is such a beautiful ride up the mountain in the cable car.

The roads are filled with people taking their flocks of sheep to graze in the fields.

The castle in Gjirokastra. It was an incredible feeling walking such sacred grounds.

And this is me and my wonderful husband standing next to the Vjosa river. The color of the river there is so much different than the Old Muddy Missouri River that runs next to us here in Missouri.

Those were just a few pics from our trip home. Hope you enjoyed them. I am sure I will have more to come later.
